Binesi’s National Radio Debut on CBC

Courage made its national radio debut on CBC’s Reclaimed, in DJ Kookum’s Indigenous Dance Party, the episode that kicked off National Indigenous History Month. She dropped it as the fourth song in the set, mixing in and out of it beautifully between tracks by Drives the Common Man and Mato Wayuhi. The lineup is stacked with artists I love: Aysanabee, Sebastian Gaskin, LOV, Tia Wood, Natasha Fisher, and so many more stars in the Indigenous music industry.

Humility · Thank You, Miigwetch

Instrumental available free for language revitalization

Humility (Thank You, Miigwetch) is a song of gratitude, sung in English and Anishinaabemowin, naming the land, the water, the wind, the fire, and all our relations. It’s free to teach, adapt, and perform, and offered to any Indigenous language program for revitalization under Creative Commons, non-commercially. If your program works in another Indigenous language, you’re warmly welcome to use the instrumental, and if you sing it, I’d love to know.

About Binesi

Binesi is a musician, artist, and entrepreneur rooted in his culture. He is Anishinaabe (Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation) and Métis on his father's side, English and Ukrainian on his mother's, born and raised in Treaty 1 territory and now living on Lekwungen Territory (Victoria, BC).

His sound blends pop, R&B, and hip-hop into something uplifting and his own, built from synths and electronic drums with lyrics rooted in Indigenous values. The same Seven Grandfather Teachings that shape this EP guide his work off-stage, where he leads an Indigenous technology company. Music is one more way he brings culture and technology together.
